Government Degree College, Tadipatri was started in the year 1978 in Anantapur District with B.A. and B.Com courses in the Government Junior College, Tadipatri campus. The college shifted to the newly constructed own building on the southern outskirts of the Town in June 2001. The B.Sc., courses were started in academic year 1992 - 1993 to meet the changing needs and demands of younger generation. The Government of Andhra Pradesh with the great foresight introduced self -funding courses in B.Com. (Computer Applications) in 2001-2002 and B. Sc (Computer Science) in 2003-2004. Certificate Course in English was introduced in 2013. To enhance skill development and entrepreneur capabilities for students, Certificate Courses were extended in Maths, Commerce, Economics, Chemistry and Commerce Departments from 2016 onwards. Later from 2017 onwards in Botany, Physics and from 2018 English departments were taken initiation to introduce certificate courses. Thus the College is always prepared to accept reforms for the continued expansion and improvement of the faculties of modern equipment and for the gigantic task of redesigning teaching learning material in every discipline appropriate to the special demands of the new technologies.
